Wolfsburg went to Borussia Moenchengladbach knowing anything less than a win would confirm Bayern Munich as Bundesliga champions.

But arguably this game was more important in the race for the Champions League places and Gladbach would surely have taken the lead if Patrick

Herrmann hadn't have checked that run.

At the other end, some nice link up play between Nicklaus Bendtner and Kevin de Bruyne saw Wolfsburg go fairly close shortly after.

The former Chelsea man then turned provider, his corner almost hammered in by Ricardo Rodriguez.

But that was as close as they would come, and after the break Gladbach stepped up their search for an opener, Max Kruse crossed for Herrmann who was denied by Diego Benaglio.

At this stage Gladbach were out of the Champions League places but in the last minute Kruse hooked in what could be the most crucial of winners...

A 1-0 win enough to send them into the third and two points above Leverkusen, four points off Wolfsburg. That race will go on but the party can start in Munich.
