A moments silence took place in remembrance of the victims of the French Alps air crash, before the friendly international between Germany and Australia on Wednesday.

The game was an opportunity for the world champions to find some form ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier in Georgia on Sunday.

And they took the lead in the seventeenth minute.

Sami Khedira feeding Marco Reus, who stabbed in at the near post.

Australia refused to take a step back and equalised five minutes before the break.

Nathan Burns' cross headed in by James Troisi.

Five minutes after the restart, the Asian champions took the lead against the World Cup winners.

Aussie skipper Mile Jedinak curled in a free kick, Ron-Robert Zieler got to it, but couldn't keep it out.

Nine minutes from time, and after a clever one-two with Jonas Hector, Andre Schurrle found Lukas Podolski at the far post, who fired home the equaliser.
