  • Intro:

Kei Nishikori, Kevin Anderson and Ryan Harrison reach the semi-finals of the Mexico Open.

    Script:

It was quarter finals day in Acapulco on Thursday with fourth seed Kevin Anderson facing Viktor Troicki in the early action.

Troicki had the better of the first set against the 28 year old South African, taking it 6-3.

But Anderson came straight back at him, hitting 32 winners as he stepped up a gear to take the second and third set.

A 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win after an hour and 45 minutes on court, set up a meeting with Kei Nishikori for a place in the final.

The Japanese star - playing in his fourth tournament as the top seed - gave a another clinical performance in his match with fifth seed Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Dolgopolov struggled to match his opponents vision and shot making, with Nishikori taking a 6-4 6-4 victory to reach his third semi-final of the new season.

Should he reach the final, Nishikori will rise to a career high ranking of number four in the world.

Ryan Harrison - who beat defending Champion Grigor Dimitrov in the previous round - took on sixth seed Ivo Karlovic.

The first set was a tight affair with Karlovic edging it 6-4.

But Harrison, who had clearly taken plenty of confidence from his win over Dimitrov - his first career win over a player ranked in the top ten - came back to win the match 4-6, 7-6 (0), 7-6 (4).

Certainly a memorable week on tour for Harrison who will now play David Ferrer for a place in the final.
