    Script:

After PSV won 5-0 on Saturday, Ajax knew a win at Excelsior was essential heading into the winter break.

Chances were at a premium as the game entered the second half. Adil Auassar had the edge on van Rhijn down the left, and Jeff Stans had to score for the hosts.

Into the final 10 minutes, and Ajax went for broke. Captain Moisander with the long ball and the Champions were given an empty net to shoot into.

Substitute van der Hoorn with his first of the season.

Substitute, Richairo Zivkovic gave the game a different look. 2-0 Ajax.

With Ajax winning in Rotterdam, Feyenoord knew anything other than a win at Breda would see them more than 10 points off second place Ajax heading into the break.

And it was Feyenoord who found a first half lead. Colin Kazim-Richards showing his strength to hold off the Breda defence.

Breda created few chances, the best of them coming in the 77nd minute, Stipe Perica looked for all the world to have beaten Kenneth Vermeer.

Feyenoord closing the game out 1-0 to sit 8 points off second place Ajax going into the Christmas break.
