Munster and Saracens battled for European Rugby Champions Cup Pool 1 supremacy on Friday night.

Munster fly-half Ian Keatley slotted his penalty kick shortly before the half-hour mark.

England fly-half Owen Farrell levelled the score at 3-3 for Sarries and the game remained level at the break.

Saracens' replacement prop Rhys Gill made a dangerous tackle on Munster number eight CJ Stander and the Welshman was sent to the sin bin for ten minutes by referee Jerome Garces.

Another penalty followed shortly after and Keatley kicked Munster into a 6-3 lead.

Two-time former European champions Munster looked to have extended their advantage when Andrew Conway dived over on the right wing.

However referee Garces asked Eric Gauzins to check the try and the Television Match Official judged that Conway had grounded the ball short of the tryline.

Keatley then sealed the 14-3 win with a drop goal that propels Munster above Saracens to the top of the Pool 1 standings.
