Marathon training 'benefiting' Wozniacki

  • Intro:

Day two reaction from the WTA Finals in Singapore.

    Script:

    SOUNDBITE (English) Caroline Wozniacki:

"Physically I've been running a lot, so it kind of helped me out there today. I was just thinking, you know, 'If I have to get through a marathon [New York City] in a couple of weeks time, I better get through this as well.' It was a tough match. The first match is always a little difficult to get the rhythm, but I just kept my head cool and just tried to do my best."

    SOUNDBITE (English) Maria Sharapova:

"You know, I felt like I had my opportunities in the first set, serving for the first set. And I definitely made my life a little bit tougher than it should have been in that first set. I think maybe it would have been a little easier going into that second - I was down in the second, she had served for the match. It was great for me to be able to come back. But in the third set I made a little too many errors more than she did, she was the consistent player out there."

    SOUNDBITE (English) Agnieszka Radwanska:

(Question: That's your first victory over Petra since you beat her here at the Finals two years ago. Did you expect to come through so comfortably when she's been in such good form recently?)

"Well, like you were saying, she's playing great tennis the last couple of months - and going on court I really had nothing to lose, so... I think I really played great tennis tonight and from the first to the last point I really was focussed on my game - and it worked today."
