South Korea were held to a 1-1 draw by Uzbekistan in an international friendly match that took place in Daejeon World Cup Stadium on Friday.
In what was a rematch of the Asian Cup quarter-final in January - which Korea won after Extra Time - Uwe Stielike’s side took the lead in the 15th minute when captain Koo Ja-cheol found the back of the net with a looping header from inside the box after a corner kick.
Koo had the opportunity to double his side’s lead nine minutes later when he had another free header in the box, but this time he could only steer it over the crossbar with the keeper beaten.
The visitors continued to pose a threat going forward and their attacking intent bore fruits on the half hour when Zokhir Kuziboyev scored his maiden goal for Uzbekistan, albeit a fortuitous one.
Sardor Rashidov's cross Kuziboyev and then Kim Ki-hee, who was unable to prevent the ball from crossing the line.
The second half produced end to end action although few real goal-scoring opportunities were created.
Koo went the closest in the 72nd minute but he was flagged for off-side when through on goal.
