What initially looked like a genuine prank from Cristiano Ronaldo here actually transpired to be quite a poorly staged promo, replete with forced Twitter banter.
With Cristiano signed to Nike with a lucrative boots contract, the Real Madrid man took part in a promo for the latest boots on the market, Nike Mercurials.
The ‘prank’ involved Ronaldo covering his international teammate Quaremsa’s car in aluminium foil, with his ‘CR7′ symbol splayed across the window.
The idea of the aluminium foil is that it matches the shiny look of Ronaldo’s new boots, and Quaresma also being signed up with Nike, the Porto man was game to take part in the promo.
Quaresma tweeted back his ‘shock’, asking Ronaldo to confirm that he actually did this to his car.
Ronaldo didn’t confirm, so we’ll have to take his word for it…
Yes, this is definitely Quaresma’s car, and Ronaldo definitely covered it in foil all by himself.
Ahem.
